Default Tuning after cam install

K guys i know im suppose to post this thread in the tuning section but every time i post there no one responds. All i want to know is where to get my car tuned here in Boise Idaho or surrounding area. Im going to do the cam swap myself, im doing the 228R from TSP. What i dont know is where to get it tuned. How are the mail order tunes? Should i just get a mail order tune from TSP?

I can't help you with a local tuner but I found the best route for me was to learn to tune myself. After paying 3 different big name tuners in the area and not getting the driveability I wanted, I gave up. There's a large learning curve though. It took me a couple months to finally start understanding everything and tuning the right way.

As for mail order tuning, I would suggest Frost. He's helped me out quite a bit on the hptuners forum. He definitely knows what he's doing!

If its an A4 it would probably be better to get it dyno tuned, M6 mail order tune should work fine, not be the best power but seems like it would be a hell of a lot easier

I would look for a used HP Tuners Pro and buy a NEW wideband. You need a laptop too. There's a learning curve but in the end it will be worth it.

Yeah i could try that. I just get worried with this car being my DD. I dont want to have any drivability issues with it you know. Thats the main reason i havent done the cam yet.

My suggestion is not to worry about the initial cost, if Frost sells HPT pay his price.

The support & learning curve will be worth ever dollar.

Im wondering if i can get a Diablo Sport Predator tuner from TSP with a base tune for the 228R cam and the mods i have and then take it to a CMR dealer and have them " fine tune it ". Im worried about anyone up here tuning my car. I havent heard any feed back on anyone and i dont want to pay money for a junk or " okay " tune on my daily driver.

why not just download a tune from the HPT archives that is close to your set up? Then fine tune from there.
