Smile Patriot LS6 Stage 2

Picked up a pair of these on Ebay for $880.00 plus shipping. They have been rebuilt with new valve guides and valve seals and the springs were checked. Has the Patriot Gold version springs. I'm going to be running the stock GM MLS head gasket. They are 64cc chamber with the 2.02 1.57 SS valve model. Will I pick up some noticeable HP and TQ gains? I have a old reverse-split Speedtek F-1 Cam, 230/226 595/585 110 LS I believe are the specs..

I felt that I got these for a good price.. Anyone else have these heads? They seem to be one of the more common aftermarket ''budget'' heads..

Do you know how old the heads are? Patriots old stuff was pretty much crap, but they've came a long way are are a solid 25-30rwhp gain these days.

True that man... seems like the last few people who are running patriot heads have made good power with it.

Making 491 / 429 with the patriot heads and a custom G-FORCE cam and fast 92mm intake/ unported on a c6 L-S2 vette, did some minor polishing on the intake/exhaust ports and bowl area. thats it, DID NOT MILL THEM FOR MORE COMPRESSION!

Spent 2 days smoothing out the intake & exhaust ports ( they come with a hogged out rough finish ) used a high grade ( soft ) sand paper to polish out the bowl area around the intake and exhaust valves, don't get carried away when you smooth out the ports, you don't want to make them bigger" just smoother. Used a cordless drill with some bits i bought from Home/depot and sand paper to reach the tight areas and final smoothing. A couple of days is all it takes to make it happen, good luck DOGG!!! The heads must be cleaned ( remove all the metal shavings once your done.

Sounds like a nice price if you have a good set. Just take them to a local shop & have the guide & valve job runnout checked before installing them. That way you know for certain your installing exactly what you expected. It probably wont cost you 30-40 for someone to check them out for you, but it will let you know exactly what you've got.

I did notice that on several of the intake runners the holes for the rocker arms come through.. In these locations, will I need to cut the rocker bolts down so they don't protrude into the runner? I notice edelbrock convienently markets a set of ''short'' style bolts but I think I can beat the 30 something dollar price there asking for as a set of 8, and then they ''suggest'' you buy two sets how silly..

the newer non welded chamber heads are pretty decent for the price especially. If you call patriot with the number stamped on the end of the head, they will tell you exactly what youve got. Also, from what i gathered when I called them, if the end of the heads have "patriot" cnc'ed across them, they are likelly new enough not to have the welded chambers. These are the decent heads.

Can any one tell me what the issue is with these older heads. I own a set of the Patriot weld up chamber stage 2's with 59 cc chambers. Power and track numbers are much lower than I expected.

Is there a fix besides buying afr's?

Yes these have PATRIOT engraved into the ends of the head but the 243 number has been all ground off.. I think they are fairly new. Does that tell you anything?

flip them over and look on the casting number on the bottom of the head (combustion chamber side). There should be a 6.0 casting mark on there. Im 90% positive you have the good heads.
