Default Two build choices. One bare LS1 block and crank.

I have a bare LS1 block with a nice stock crank.
I have two choices as I see it for a sweet build.
Option one:
-Stock stroke/bore
-Aftermarket rods and pistons.
-TrickFlow 215cc CNC heads
-CAM TBD

Option 2:
-Stroker rotating assembly(383?) Not sure which one..but I know the more cubes the better as I'm power hungry..but price and reliability are also important..open to suggestions
-Livernois ported 243s or something similar for the heads
-Cam TBD

I think I could build either for comparable money.

I may consider boost in the future for either motor.

The use of this car will be:
-Daily Driven toy. I have a motorcycle to ride if it rains
-Pump gas ONLY.
-Want to keep it under 7500RPM but preferably under 7000RPM(Cheaper valvetrain)
-Car getting installed in will be 2500-3000lbs...havent picked said car yet.

So let's discuss.

if you want more cubes i would go with an ls2 block instead of the ls1 block. if weight is not an issue grab an lq4 or an lq9 motor. throw in some forged pistons and rods, keep the stock cranck but get it balanced and polished.

if you are power hungry and do not intend to boost the motor or spray it, i would stay away from a 5.7

I'm also poor. So LS2 is out and weight IS a concern. As for the power hungry comment I guess maybe I said it wrong..I just wanted to say that if I'm stroking it more cubes should make more power....so I'd go with more cubes if I was given two choices in stroker kits, PROBABLY...depending on advice I'm given.

Before boost as close to 500rwhp as possible...wanting no more than 650rwhp with boost.

PUMP GAS.

well from a Ls1 that's achievable. but will cost money= down side lol.

Heads
Cam
Fast 92/92
Full exhaust
supporting mods and a tune. you'll be close to 500 n/a if setup properly.
just have to base the CR if your going to boost it or not.

I guess my question was can I use more cubes and cheaper heads and achieve the same thing with less oney in the valve train than stock cubes and pricey heads...?

my .02 = anything worth doing is worth doing right the first time.

you could just throw a turbo(with supporting mods of course) and see damn near 800HP.

I think 800hp might be excessive for a NON drag car...lol...

THis motor MIGHT go in a Miata.
OR
It might go ina foxbody
OR
It might go in a Merkur XR4ti....Think Sierra Cosworth. With LS power.
