Lq4 rebuild kit
 

Ok so i guess i need to overbore my 6.0l for my truck, man i wasn't ready for that, or rather the price tag that comes with it. 896 for the rebuilt kit (without lifters, not sure if headbolts are included!) plus another grand for the machine work :( so my question is in a effort to try and save some money on this, does anyone know of a cheaper rebuilt kit? its a 03 lq4 needs to go .020 over. can i get differant pistons to raise the compression a little? dont wanna mess with the cam seems to how i am in smog happy california. this is just for my 3/4 work truck not a hot street car. but a little more pulling power will definatly be a plus. thanks in advance for your help, you guys are always on the ball and know your stuff!!!!!

Used engine seems the obvious route, unless you're doing this for more power. I have an 03 2500HD work truck. Does fine as is and I would just repower it with a used motor. How many miles? What happened to the motor? If pulling power is your only goal, trade it for one with a Duramax.

nah only into the lq4 for about three hundred dollars and came with a ton of extra crap i can use for a conversion later if i want. my current running motor has 250k on it, this one looked low milage, could still see cross hatching but engine builder says the pistons are gonna be to loose. i dont pull enough to warrant a duramax plus i hate the smell of the fuel haha. nope just gonna drop in rebuilt motor and go another 250k miles, and use the other one in a camaro or something. just need to find a good kit for a reasonable price is all.

A grand for machine work? That's crazy! Is it that expensive everywhere? I was charged $200 for cleaning my block, a bore & hone to .030, checking the mains alignment, and installation of the cam bearings. I paid another $150 for the assembly and performance valve job of my new heads. Then it cost $150 to balance my rotating assembly. That's $500 for all the machine work here in Oklahoma City. My rotating assembly was balanced by Buddy Rice Performance Machine. The block machining and cylinder heads were done by Kirk Burkey at Valve Train Specialists. I've been using these guys since the 80's and they've always done great work at reasonable prices. What gives with west coast prices?:eyes:

yea i thought it seemed a little unreasonable as well, i am looking into that at this point, bt really stuck over a barrel as the machine shop is the only one in the area that can do it. :(

I am in the central California area if anyone has any suggestions for a machine shop, close to Fresno.

Good, but not this week's record. Yesterday a guy responded to a 12-year old thread. He realized it after posting, and when I gave him the heads up.

It's actually something I would do, which is why I catch them so easily. So many times I was gonna give a really cool, informative, intelligent (????) reply, then I notice how really ancient it is....

No problem, really. Just that you better not expect an answer from the person you are asking for a reply from. After this much time they are usually long gone.
