lsx vs. lq9 vs. lq4 vs. 5.3L
newbie ls question here but whatever. What is the difference between these motors. Obviously people drop them into f-bodies all the time, but what are the differences between each, and what parts are interchangeable? Also i see the 5.3L motor alot. What is this out of, and is it still technically an lsx? Thanks guys

The LQ9 is the higher compression 6.0 (10.0:1) out of a SS Silverado, escalade,VortecMax truck
The LQ4 is the lower compression 6.0 (9.0:1 I believe)
The 5.3 came in trucks, suburbans, and tahoes. Yes its still considered an LS motor.

They're also interchangable with the LQ4 and LQ9. I'm pretty sure the cranks are all the same, not sure about rods though. Only differences really are bore size, and the 5.3 and 6.0's are iron blocks instead of aluminum, like the LS motors. And the difference in the LQ4, and LQ9 are the pistons. LQ9's have the flat tops for higher compression, and the LQ4's have dished pistons to lower compression.
