MS3 and stock 243's.
 

Well i keep gathering parts for my heads cam swap and have a couple things i am not sure of. I first need to figure out what lifters to run, alot of people run the ls7 lifters which sounds fine but i have also heard they go bad after 15k. So what are other people running that arent really expensive. Also need to know what head gaskets you guys think i should run, i see that gm has a graphite set and the mls set. Just wondering which is better and also what you guys run??? Other than that if there is any other advice i could get that would be great. Thanks

I bought mls gaskets. And for lifters went with the ls7s. But with those it seems you need a 7.350 pushrod. Always best to check, but from what I have researched that's the size. Also lifters brand is opinionated. Different users swear by their own preferred brand, and everyone has a horror story about a particular lifter.

MLS gaskets are fine, and cheap. Just make sure of course the deck surface is totally clean. I also went with LS7 lifters, which are simply the stock GM replacements now. Measure for pushrods to achieve the proper preload and they won't go bad anytime soon.

any one else, how do you guys thing this setup will work and what kinda power should i make???

I am doing the same thing. Might get a valve job on the heads, but other than that. Pretty much stock. I am hoping for low 400s, figuring i dyno'd 379 rwhp on a cold half empty nitrous bottle using a 50 shot a few months ago, low 400s seems doable, and then throwing a 100 shot on top of that in my build. BUT i am also an m6, so that tends to give higher dyno numbers.

i would not put ls7 lifters in my engine get yourself a set of ls1s they can be had for around 100 new...

my dad & i have both had great success with them...he is running a Ms3 also with 5.3 heads...

You guys know the LS7 lifter is the replacement to the LS1 lifter. Out of the thousands & thousands of LS7 lifters we've sold I've seen very few with issues. What you have to understand is it's important to properly setup your valvetrain for good lifter life. I would absolutely run LS7 lifters in any of my cars without thinking twice.
