Will this setup have potential to run mid 11's?

Thinking about picking up one of the LS6 crate motors from SDPC because they've got a good price on them right now. I was going to do a cam swap (Mildly aggressive), leave the 243 heads on it, go with a Fast 92/92, full exhaust obviously, Monster clutch, and a Fab 9 rear with a 4.11 gear. Full suspension under it and a sticky tire too.

Oh, and I've done about 100lbs in weight reduction as well. HVAC delete, UMI K-member, ABS delete, Spare tire/jack delete, AIR injection delete.

Just looking for mid 11's on motor at about 118-121ish mph...

Kind of what I have so yes. I went 11.79@114 stock internal so yes.

When you put that mild cam in there you will have successfully voided your GM cratemotors warranty. I've been there and done that already. Spun a bearing at 3,000 miles and got left holding the bag. May I suggest you buy a forged SB from one of the sponcers instead? If you can afford a set of heads along with the cam You might be better off with a LB.

Ls6 and bolt ons would go mid 11s easy

I'm not really too concerned with voiding the warranty on the motor. Just a very good deal on the LS6 crate is why I want to go that route. It will get me where I want to be with the car. I don't ever plan on really doing the big boost or big nitrous with the car. From what I understand sponsers shortblocks/longblocks don't carry a warranty either.

In a Z06 I've seen that. I haven't seen that in an F-body though.

Look into a chrs1313 ram air also

fatmat80 Feb 10, 2010 03:52 PM

how good of a deal are you getting?
I also agree with "NC98Z" i would go with a forged shortblock as well and if you can swing it pick up some 243s..

dyno thread PAT-G EPS cam made 430 rwhp- 415 rwtq ,with a LS6 crate engine.runs lows 11s.

Through a 6speed my old ss w/ the same ls6 crate motor your looking at, hooker Lt's, exhaust lid and tune.....390rwhp on a mustang dyno. Low 12's on 18" street tires, no traction, stock gear! With suspension, gear, and decent tire the crate motor with ls6 cam should go into the high 11's with ease so mild cam and good tune you should have no trouble being in the mid 11's

jcobra99 Feb 10, 2010 08:38 PM

You can very easily reach 11's. It all depends on how big you go with the cam.

PRE-Z06 Feb 11, 2010 06:27 AM

It should go mid 11s with a gm hot cam in it and still have the warranty to boot if you can drive...
