Not sure of the entire #, but an LS1 block ends in 78 and the LS6 casting ends in 68 Hope that helps a lil....

Well from what i read in Gm High Tech the casting # was 12561168 which is on the left hand side above the tranny flange. So grab a mirror and flashlight. One more way you can tell is that the block is duller in color than the normal LS1 block which is shinier. Hopes this helps.....

ok it definately an LS6 block...

How do I tell if it's an 01 LS6 block or an 02 LS6 block?
