Default any way to measure a cam with a micrometer

Is there any way to get a around about lift on a cam with the use of a micrometer

Yes, but you need to be very careful. If you measure the narrowest parts and the widest parts of the same lobe, and measure the same lobe (intake or exhaust) several times, write down the numbers you're getting and then, subtract the low from the high. Call that the cam lift. Then multiply this times your rocker ratio and you should have your valve lift from that. THEN, do the exhaust or intake, which ever is remaining

OR - get a couple of wood chunks and cut v-notches into it, mount them to a 2x4 such that they then cradle the cam shaft (new wood is safer and use lots of oil anyway for smoother rotation and get a dial/height/micrometer whatever it's called and make a stand for it and measure the same on the lobes as you slowly rotate it. . .

Like he said, measure the base circle, and then the lobe height. The difference is the lobe lift.

i come up with the in- 544 and the ex 538

not sure that even worth pulling my stock 98 cam for, even tho the pump and chain are off now. what do you think, i have no clue what the dur is

yeah, you have to have a degree wheel and the lift dial caliper thingy to get the duration calculated...
