new to ls1tech and ls1's

I just bought a 98z28 it is stock minus a flowmaster muffler, which is coming off today. I am wanting to do some basic bolt ons. looking to make around 400-450rwhp. I want to keep it street legal, i was thinking ls6 heads, intake, long tubes, catted y piped, borla catback. Do they make any emissions legal cams for ls1's all that i have searched havn't shown any. Just looking for any info and help, also I have an NX kit that is going on it.

Are you trying to pass a sniffer test or just an OBDII scan? A smog legal cam that will make mid 400's isn't that feasible cam only but with heads/cam I think the 400 HP mark to the ground isn't out of reach. Let us know what state you are in or what exactly you are looking at emissions wise and I'll see if we can't come up with a combo to get you where you want to be.

If your going LS6 heads, have them worked By (TEA, AI) or get the PRC stage2.5 LS6's.

you can upgrade to a ls6 intake.we need a sticky for emission combos that will pass and make good power.

Honestly I am looking for some real world opinions. I have done a ton of research and I see alot of bench racers and dyno racers. The reason i want an emission combo i don't want the raw fuel smell.

Thanks I am new to ls1's, I got my first taste last night. Replaced the wiper pulse module and window motor. Definately not like working on my mustangs lol. My stupid wiper stays up after they are off, and module still didn't fix it.

Well if you just dont want to smell raw fuel that will be all in the tune and having cats (like you said you wanted). That shouldnt be hard even for a half decent tuner I dont think.

243 heads (Ls6/2) are good over stock, even better when ported, opened up with bigger valves, and milled a little bit to get the compression up.

Welcome to the site ford guy, lol.

if you don't want the smell of fuel then i'd get cats for sure. my exhaust is dumped w/no cats and can smell fuel especially in the garage when i start it up. Tuning may also help!

Make sure when you change your exhaust up to not put on a cutout and have it terminate out from underneath the car. That will help a bunch right there.
