i took off my valve covers today to see what i am dealing with. had a loud tapping noise which i thought was a bent pushrod. besides being dirty in there all is well. so i kind of guessed maybe a collapsed lifter. i pulled the fuse for the fuel pump and turned it over. everything operates like it should. i took out all the pushrods and all are clear and straight. so i button it back up and its still ticking. my buddy is very knowledgeable about these starts taking my belt off, tells me to start it. still tickin. he takes this tiny little belt off i didnt even know i had and i start it. no more tick! he said the clutch in the air conditioner went out and locked up. so i have no air but the car runs fine. just thought id post it up in case something similar happens to somebody else. i would have never found the problem!
