If the intake touched with the LS7 lifter it's going to touch with the solid lifter - no point in trying it really. There's also no way to really tell how much needs to be cut since it touched the piston (could be 0.080" could be 0.120") - I would try it using the dial indicator method. I personally wouldn't cut more than 0.080" (some have cut more without issues). The other solution is a different cam as you mentioned.

I agree. I think you may find that a deep cut is required and I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with that approach. If you have an adjustable timing set, you can move the cam to different intake opening angles to see what that buys you and from there you may be able to figure out what duration will work without cutting. You can do the same with exhaust.

wow I didn't know that...what's the price for that?

I have a 1.66 exhaust and 2.10 intake these are the actual measurements...they were for 2.04 and 1.58 valves...he adds a little extra to be safe...

let me know I have rented them out before...

also I cut both of mine .110 deep...

I would measure the intake but use two head gaskets or tape the deck to raise the thickness...then just subtract what you added...I can't believe you are much closer than me...I had a smaller 239 intake duration but was at 57.5cc heads and .040 gasket...gave me -.020 after I cut .110 I now have .090 for the intake...

I want to say it was around $50 or $60 to rent and maybe $110 or so to buy. I could be a little off though. The guy is definitely friendly and will talk your ear off.
