whos using a texas giant cam

woundering who is using a texas giant cam?

how it runs and what power does it makes?
what they have it in?

TooLateVTEC 05-18-2010 11:03 AM

I dont have any experience with it, but the only thing ive seen it in was 402+ cubic inch motors.

momartin22 05-18-2010 11:04 AM

i have it in a tsp 408 with shitty patriot ls6 heads and it put down 490/480....idles real smooth no surging, easy to drive

justinj 06-15-2010 08:18 PM

jdmotox333 06-15-2010 08:31 PM

tsp408 with trickflow 215s fast 92, just got the cam in but man its hard it get it to idle. Im new to the HP tunners so i will figure it out.

jdmotox333 06-24-2010 12:52 PM

well let me know how that works out for you and the numbers it puts down im looking into going to the same setup you have but mayb different heads

jmm98LS1 06-24-2010 01:08 PM

I run a custom cam with the duration almost identical to the tx giant in my lil 370, makes ~500/450 through a heavy drive train.

jdmotox333 06-24-2010 03:40 PM

well im debating on in the next year or two to either go 408 or go with a fully built ls3 with a texas cam but trying to use a texas xam in whatever motor i go with next

DrkPhx 06-24-2010 08:01 PM

I have a similar cam but on XFI lobes for sale. My TA ran the ET in my sig with the cam. Driveability was suprisingly good considering the cam size. PM me if interested.

jdmotox333 06-25-2010 09:46 AM

is your 402 ta auto or six speed

smok'nZ 06-25-2010 04:58 PM

my buddy had one in his old 408 made 502-49x he had patriot stage III's ls6 intake shanner tb, 1 7/8 lt's td's and a t56

jdmotox333 06-25-2010 11:55 PM

just an all motor 408 or he have spray too

orangeapeel 06-26-2010 12:06 AM

That thing would idle probably about like the TRex cam. They have the exact same valve overlap (25°). I don't know that I would run this in a 346 even if you plan on going to a 402/408/414 later on. I ran a 244/248 in my old 346 and it was a dog until about 5k. T56 car.

jdmotox333 06-26-2010 12:10 AM

oh im not thinkin of using a iant in my 346 im leavin the car with pacesetter lts and ory untill i get the money to get a ls3 or i decide i can take out the loan for a decent motor build

orangeapeel 06-26-2010 12:53 AM

I dont want to step on your toes or anything, but just as a good word of advice, I would not take out a loan on something that isnt a necessity.

jdmotox333 06-26-2010 12:56 AM

well not a full 5 plus thousand dallor loan i mean maybe a 1 or 2 thousand dallor loan for that last little bit i need that can also help me etablish credit and pay it back sooner cause i dont have any credit at the moment so yeah just help my future out on that

orangeapeel 06-26-2010 01:30 AM

Just dont get too deep. ;) Easier way would probably be to get approved on a credit card as opposed to getting a loan at the bank. Just make sure you pay on it.

smok'nZ 06-26-2010 03:19 AM

his 408 made 502 na he did have a N20 kit too 7xx rwhp
