Default El Torro and MAYBE heads...what fuel pump and injectors?

Hey guys,

I know for sure that I am going with an El Torro cam. I am not certain I will be able to afford new heads (but they would probably be TSP PRC LS6 2.5). The car will have no emissions, no power steering, no AC, LS6 intake, ported TB, 1 3/4 headers, X-pipe with true duals (probably 3" all the way back behind the tire), A4, 3.42 gears.

1. If I run the El Torro and stock heads, what fuel pump capacity should I get? What size injectors?

2. If I run the El Torro and TSP heads, what fuel pump capacity should I get? What size injectors?

THANKS in advance!!

Let whoever is tuning your car tell you what injectors to pick up. You will probably be safe just picking up the Walbro 255lph intank.

I was pretty much hoping to hear you guys say the 255 pump because that is what I was thinking. Guess that is confirmation on that. The only problem is that Ricks tanks (who makes a stainless tank for a 66 Nova with an LS1) uses this pump:

•Fuel Pump Specs: Supports up to 450 HP. @ 13.5 volts pump is rated for 51 PSI and will flow 41GPH. (155.2 LPH)
•Replacement AC Delco fuel pumps are readily available at your local GM dealer, GM part number EP381.

So I don't know if that pump would be enough, so I guess I'd need to swap it out to the 255.

With the 42# injectors, is there going to be any issues of "too much flow" for idle? I was doing a search on here and came across some of that. But maybe that is only if you put 42# injectors on a stock setup, rather than a cammed car? I just want to make sure I don't go too big if I go cam only, yet I don't want to be too small if I end up going with heads down the road.

Thanks!!

i asked the fuel injector size question in the fuel systems thread and everyone said 36# would be ok but if i plan on doing better heads (which i will) and if i wanted to nitrous later on that 42#'s would leave alot more room to grow. So i went with the 42# just because i know that i will always wanna go faster and that i wont have to upgrade right away
