Default What do you check/used Ls1 engine

Can anybody tell me what to look for when buying a used Ls1 that has been sitting for a couple of years out of the car.I'm interested in buying one but i want to make sure all that time sitting around did not affect anything inside the engine. Is there anything i can do to check it or is there anything i should be worried about.Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I would pull the plugs and look for rust. Turn the engine over by hand with the plugs out. With the plugs out it should turn smooth and easy. Drain the oil and look whats in it. Pull the valve covers and look around.

i like to see the pan off check for metal or a cleaned eng.. but thats me... pulling the plugs is fine but rusted walls will still turn free... so unless u pull the heads too its his word.
