can u sand blast a ls1 head to clean it up?

Default can u sand blast a ls1 head to clean it up?

i have a pair of ls1 241 heads and am having someone clean em up and he said he said he would sand blast the exhaust and combustion chambers to get carbon off but he said he would also sandblast the spring pockets rocker area bottom line he would sandblast the whole casting except the surface were ir sitson the block would this **** up the casting?

no problem. we clean heads like that all the time. we just stay away from the seats and the mating surfaces.

I have had heads bead blasted, a little more tame for soft surfaces. I have used at home some scotch brite red pads (also green) and a can of WD-40 and have had excellent result. Then Brake Clean wipe down for final inspection. This was on CNC ported heads and they looked nearly brand new.

As an alternative, many people use Berryman's B12 or other quality carb cleaner and let it soak in the ports and chamber for a bit. After soaking a little while, the grime typically wipes right off with minimal effort!

what about the spring pockets were sand blasted also the spots were the rockers sit on are getting blasted they dont look lika a shiny soft area i could probly polish but will the heads still work even though all areas were sand blasted exept the sealing surface against the block and were headers seal
