Thumbs up TFS 235! nice results I think

Tried the car at the track yesterday here in Quebec Canada:

10.71 129mph 1/4
6.93 101mph 1/8
1.51 60' (Best 1.47 with 2 wheels up in the air but missed 4th)

Very satisfied about the results for a first try

Car is a 2002 SS camaro 35th
3785 lbs with me in it
4.30 gear 28x10.5 ET Drag, 9'' ford with spool
6 speed
Stock springs and shocks
rear air bag
UMI performance torque arm and LCA

402 iron block
12:1 compression with 91 octane (2/3) and Sunoco 104 unleaded (1/3)
TFS 235 port matched with intake
FAST LSXr 102
NW 102
ARH 1 7/8 with merge
42# injectors, walbro 255 with hotwire. IDC 84%
3'' offroad Y-pipe with Special home made 4'' merge with 4'' cutout
CamMotion special grind HYD roller
Stock water pump
Power steering
Ram street dual clutch
Street Tuning with HP tuner OLSD (Very rough idle, many hours of tuning to get it streetable ). Never went on a dyno

Have to play with timing to gain mph. Suspension tuning too is a must!! Car is a real beast with slicks!!

I think the car is capable of 10.50-10.60 with a good 60'

God bless the TFS 235!

with that rearend, those gears and tires, you should be running 9's! a few suspension mods and a set up tune, you will be slamin 9's all day.

The car is too heavy for the 9's but runs well for the weight. it can hit 10.5's with a better 60 foot. nice times, congrats.
How did you get 12.0 compression, what cc are the heads and gasket size?

That's what I think too, car is too heavy to run high 9's. With that weight, I don't have enough torque to drop my 60' into 1.25's-1.35's

TFS 235 are CNC ported out of the box( If I remember correctly 72cc not milled). Wiseco pistons with +5cc dome, Cometic 0.040 gasket. Stock deck. I tried to keep tight quench to avoid detonation with pump gas. I know Dome is not ideal for detonation, flow and weight but it works for everyday driving with 91 octane. Compression is 12:1 or 12.1:1 something like that

Awesome results man! I wish you would have not missed 4th with the 1.47 60ft pass, you would be even happier with your et. Don't worry, there is more in it. Ditch some weight.

Thanks for info. i'm in michigan and with the 402ci and l92 heads i did 10.85 hitting the rev limiter in two gears. I do 1.42 60's on a m6 car and with me in it it weights 3,630. good news is,i'm ordering trick flow 235 heads tomorrow and making some changes. and,i just added a carbon ws9 outlaw hood. i hope for 10.3 or 10.4 n/a. good luck with the car and for a fat girl it hauls ***. Be cool bro. mike.

I think it's heavy for 9's too., but it still should be fun to drive.

I have a clip but file is too large to share

Idle is nasty for an EFI engine but if you compare the sound to Old school big block chevy with roller cam and 13:1 compression, mine sounds not so nasty

That cam looks like it is more designed for a single plane intake with all of that overlap and 110°LSA and 106° ICL.
Some shocks, weight loss and practice will have you knocking on 9's. What was your launch rpm?

Launch rpm was around 6000rpm with no bogging at all but wheel spin a little bit. The problem I think is that the slicks are 3 years old and the front end is not loose enough (stock shocks and springs). Also, the rear sway bar, shocks and springs are stock. Rear is not stiff enough and doesn't absorb the hit very well. It's time for a good drag racing shocks and spring kit with a rear swaybar. I followed Madman advices in GM High perf magazine to adjust LCA, torque arm and pinion angle.

I want to keep the car full weight with GM seats, big sound system, original equipment, cruise control, power steering, power windows, abs, ac, catback etc. To reduce weight, the only thing I'm thinking about is lightweight carpet from speed inc or go on a diet . Don't know if carpet is good or worth it. Maybe it's useless. Battery relocation in the trunk can't hurt too for weight distribution.

The car is my daily driver by the way and it's a 35th anniversary so I don't want to cut anything.

Special thanks to Tom at Speed inc. and Ron at Vengeance

Still have Rotela 15w40 oil with additive for break-in. Engine has 1K miles. Synthetic will reduce friction and gain HP and mph from my experience. Approx .5 mph gain. I would like to hit 130-132 mph in cold Quebec weather and good atmospheric pressure this fall.

I'm supposed to go on a Mustang dyno in a few weeks to play with timing, airfuel and injection timing. Right now timing is 29 above 5000 rpm and 27 below 5k. How much timing do you normaly run with a setup like that? Do you retard injection timing a lot? Air fuel is around 12.8 at 5k and 13.1 above 6k. I know every engine is different and the dyno will answer my questions but how do you normaly adjust these parameters.

At first, I tought the cam was too big but it seems to work pretty good with my parts combination and 4.30 gear. Very quiet valvetrain for a LS1, no oil burning, 225psi cranking pressure on all 8 cylinders.

Beside suspension and weight reduction, do you think I can gain something by switching to another camshaft?

Correction: rechecked my time slips and best 1/8 mile was 6.78
