Default Hot Cam Retainer Question

Maybe im just brain farting here but im putting a hot cam in my buddies car. He got kit right from gm and it comes with retainers but they look more like a seat anybody use these or just use the stock ones? I seen some kits come with blue springs and some wiht yellow, his has yellow springs. Ive never seen retainers quite like these but could just be retarded right now.

Ok so i just read that with the yellow springs and the 02 style valve seals you dont need to use the retainers is this correct? Something about the there used with the 2 peice style seal? I just wanna make sure. Everyone seems to not use them anyways.

I hope you mean not use the retainers that came with the cam kit. That cam kit doesnt come with seats or seals.

I am confused on what part you are referring to but can answer the 02+ question. The older installations used an umbrella seal and a separate seat for the valve springs. In 02, the seat and seal were integrated into a single part. Would need to see a photo of the part you are referring to.
