Exclamation 6.0 Oil Pump Pickup question.....

I am putting a 6.0 (LQ9) in my 99 Camaro. Of course I have to have the ls1 oil pan so I ordered the oil pan, and pickup from gmpartsdirect. Got everything in. I noticed when I was pulling off the pickup that the ls1 o-ring was a different color. I believe one was blue and the other was green. Like I just said "I believe". I can double check to verify. Which one do I need to put in there? I figured I use the new one that came with the new pickup. Not sure though.

You said that you have a F car pickup tube and pan, correct? If that is right, like I highlighted above, you need the Blue O-ring. The Red O-ring is for a pickup tube that has a recessed area for the O-ring to sit into.

Yeah, I am using all of the FBody pickup and pan. I didn't know if the pumps were different.

Time to bring this up again...

I also have a 6.0L going ina car that requires an F-Body oil pan. I think I have a 6.0L gasket set, it had three o-rings, green, black and red.

The red was too small, the green and black both fit the tube. The green was thicker than the black. I went with the black and it was a very snug fit. Should I take it back out and look for the "blue" o-ring before I put the motor in the car?

Like I said earlier, they are pickup tube specific. If you got a 6.0L truck gasket kit, the O-rings are for their tubes. If you are using a F-car pan and F-car tube, spend the $5.00 and get the F-car O-ring, if anything, its for your piece of mind.

sounds good - I figured if the LS gen III oil pumps are the same - where the pick up tube sticks into them would be the same. I guess that would make too much sence for a GM engineer, lol. I'll grab the correct blue o-ring tomorrow. thanks!
