Default valvetrain noise

got my cam installed w/the recomended pushrods (7.375) started up and was real noisy after it ran for a minute still noisy. put factory p/rs back in (7.400) started up made noise for maybe 30 seconds and quietened down. question, did i not give the shorter ones long enough time to pump up and how much performance difference could the short p/rs make.

How did you measure? If you measured and came up with the shorter length what you could do is remove two pushrods on cylinder #1 and install the shorter ones. Then run the motor for a while and see if that cylinder quiets down. If they do that will answer your question. I have had brand new lifters tick for several minutes but they also have a grease in them that takes time to wash out.
