2000 WS6 w/21k mi..smoking.
I just purchased a 2000 Blk/blk WS6 6-SPD. I got the car from a older man that was the original owner and let it sit alot from 2007-2010 when I purchased it.
I got the car home and off the trailer and had a friend follow me home. Not driving one of these for almost 5 yrs I obviously had a little bit of a heavy foot. As I was driving my friend noticed that at high RPM's a bit of blue smoke and could smell burnt oil. Now as my knowledge would tell me right away I thought either a ring or the valvetrain. My question is how do I find out whats causing it for sure? and who do I go to, to fix such a problem or find out exactly what the problem is?
Thanks

I bought my 2000 ws6 when it has 50k on it and it smoked pretty bad. I was about to tear the engine down and put new rings in but I decided to check the valve seals and noticed that they were hard and dry. I put new valve seals in and took care of all the smoke. It went from burning a quart of oil in 600 miles to not burning any. I would pull the valve covers and pull a couple springs and have a look at the seals or better yet just replace them all. heap to do and in my case fixed my problem. As for why the seals were bad at such low mileage I have no idea but they were bad for sure.

A Leakdown test will tell you if it is rings. MOST likely its valve seals, a good time to do springs so you can safely put more revs to the engine and change the seals at the same time.
Technically cheaper and your not cracking the factory seal of the motor. I'd throw a catch can on it anyways and also Seafoam the engine to help ensure its not left over crap.
