Default which should i use? melling 10295 or 10296??

Hey guys decided to go with a melling pump from summit since ill get it next day and cheaper. Which is a better choice for me or really don't matter? The 10295 or 10296. Plan on adding intake and heads later. As of now its a 01 fbody with 228 cam 42lb injectors exhaust and gears. DD. Thanks everyone

With oiling systems, I would err on the side of too big since you don't really have a lot to lose.

I've had 296's for a while and I really like it. Extra volume and you can use the low pressue spring if you want stock like pressure. Good insurance, I just ordered one for my turbo build.

If you have the stock shortblock with stock clearances, use the 10295. If you have a rebuilt shortblock with larger clearances, use the 10296.

This is going to go back and forth, because I've asked the same question you asked. It's whatever you want. A 295 will work with no problem for your setup, and so will a 296. I have a H/C/I, stock bottom end and am using a 296 with no problems. Great oil pressure! I used the green o-ring and used the spring that it came installed with. It's just going to be whichever one you want really.
