243s v's l92s?

Which heads would be better for an Stock lq9? Stock for stock? If I go l92s I'm thinking of running
A ls3 intake. Thanks for any input

It depends on the overall matching of parts. Both will require different cams to optimize.
Both have excellent potential.

I agree with Mark. I would run the l92s personally though

L92s move a lot of air.

243's move air fast.

Depends on your goals. Both sets of heads can make power. The 243's with the right camshaft will be more snappy on the street. If you want high rpm power, the L92's will still keep breathing long after the 243's are done.

I agree with that. If you are looking for horsepower or for a race car or weekend racer, go with the L92's. My LS2 which uses the same pistons as your LQ9 made 526 flywheel HP with L92's and an L76 intake and a very mild Crane cam 222 x 234 @ .050 on a 112 lsa. Only .551 lift, LS6 springs.

If you want cathedral ports I'd check out PRC 237cc..

I'm running the tsp torquer v2. It's a street car that see's the track here & there. Just want the car to have a lil power.

If you are going with some type of FI I would definitely go with the L92s if your thinking of staying NA do the 243s.

Yeah I'm going n/a. Thinking of milling the heads a lil as well to bump up the compression .

thats a good way to tell it general, but both can be a good and bad thing. Its more a cathedral needs some special work to keep some areas form getting to fast, then the rest of the head. You can get the same air speeds in a L92, it just isn't going to back up when some valve lift to show the issue.
And the L92 can get some big valve curtain area at the "wrong" times, thats what the different cam in intake setups make or break running them.

over the two witch one would you run with the tourqer .v2?

Cosmos Dec 19, 2010 02:06 PM

Don't pick heads based on your cam
