I bought A LQ9 today ! What HEADS should I look into?
I bought a LQ9 today out of a 03' Escalade to swap into my 01' Z-28
I have a Fast 90/90 from my rod knocking LS-1 that I may or may not use.
I am going to call Geoff at EPS and go with one of his cams, most likely a custom grind.
I am looking for 480 RWHP or better through my M6. Since this will be my daily driver I want a street friendly set up with a great curve.
My FM 14 cammed LS-1 put down 404 rwhp, so I would be very unhappy if I only gained 25 HP with this Iron block, however I can't afford $2000 right now for CNC'ed Billy Bad *** heads.
I am thinking of either L92's or some 5.3 heads that have been worked.
What heads would you be looking at if you were me? Should I use my Fast 90/90 setup?

is it gonna be a stock 6.0? or a 370 or 408? I say if its a stock 6.0 some worked on 5.3 heads, if a 370 or 408 some L92 heads. IMO
(p.s. got some l92 heads for sale right now)

Had it all typed up then finished reading your requests. My set up is going to be L92 ($900), forged l92 pistons ($600 - they come in any compression you want from Mahle), forged I-beams ($300). Cam I chose was a Grind#LSR269LRR / HR13 Part#54-453-11 Spec: 219/235 - 607/621- 113. The duration is going to keep the motor tame and street-able/ yet beefy enough to do something with. Last thing I want is to be in 6th, hit the gas, and deal with surging issues. I wanted the high lift with the tight duration to get some TQ out of the motor for street use. The L92 head design is pretty much designed for that anyways, might as well exploit it with a good cam for just that. The LSA is going to keep the power band somewhat wide, and not so tight that you have to twist the motor to see power. It will be a 1500-6700 operating range, which will keep me on power all the time for my driving style. Im glad you said you had a 90/90 already. That's going to work good for you if you get this cam. Hope this helps add some food to your thought!
