I'm building a 427 LS3 (actually I think it's closer to a 429.. 4.07 bore, 4.125 stroke)... answers below. My engine isn't quite done yet but will be very soon.

what i am wondering is the following -
what rotating assembly did you choose - eagle crank/rods, mahle pistons
who did your machine work - schwanke engines
what block did you start with and why - ls3 - common, lot cheaper than ls7, not much more $ than an ls2
l92 or ls6 heads - l92
intake and tb combo - stock ls3 / stock ls2 (ls2 and ls3 tbs are the same, already had the ls2 tb)
possible dyno numbers N/A - 500+ rwhp (hopefully closer to 550, but the stock heads and intake will limit me for now)
and for god sake how much did you spend lol - about 6500-7000 on the engine but I got some of the top end stuff used (hard to say exactly, doing clutch, trans, buncha other misc stuff at the same time)

thanks for input:D

We've done a large number of these and larger but as always it depends. One we did 7 years ago with Darton block is still making about 600 at the tires. Thanks for the nice words from some of you guys and basically its budget that decides most of the parts.

all of the answers were expected actually...i just wanted to make sure i was on the right track, and havent looked over any rotating assemblies that are out there....i will spend the bulk of my money on the bottom end and pretty much do a budget top end with a set of l92 heads and send to my port and polish guy here locally....intake and TB are still up in the air but, im sure classifieds and craigslist will have something laying around...lol
hoping for 600 n/a so thanks for the info guys
will update this spring!!!
thanks again

Go look up WKMCD's build in the Gen IV section. Can't remember the thread name but he is making close to 600rwhp with a L92 topend...
