Mild 402 cam preferences?
Hey all,
I'm hoping to finally take the plunge this summer and am looking to move my ported 243's and fast90/ls2 tb combo over to a modest jump in cubes.
What kind of mild cams are you guys liking for that size? This will be a na dd, so I'm not looking for anything wild. Ideally would like to keep lift moderate as well.
Thanks.
P.S. I went custom cam last time...just curious what kind of ballpark numbers would work here.

If it were me , I think I would go with an G5X series cam from LG Motorsports with a block that size. 402 should be able to swallow up a big cam and still be very streetable. No need in having the bark if you don't have the bite to go along with it .

I went with a custom FTI cam. I gave Ed my build specs and the following priorities:
1) Make as much power under the curve as possible from 2500 to 6500 rpm while meeting the rest of the needs
2) Relatively easy to tune. (I'm a tuning noob and did not want something that would take a tuning guru to make run decently)
3) 500 rwhp.
I got a 236/244 .631 114+2. I don't have dyno numbers yet as I am still getting things together, but it seems to meet #1 and 2. Still got to see about #3
I had to only make pass at the RAF tuning and it idles great at 850.

agreed, the ms3 is a good option as well on 113 or this cam if you bump up the lsa a notch or two http://www.engpwrsys.com/index.php?a...d&productId=10

Thanks all for the pointers, much appreciated!
It just occurred to me that the Grand Am cam could be an interesting choice in this situation. 239/251 at .570 on a 106lsa. Not nearly as gnarly on these cubes as trying to run it on a 346.
P.S. The heads I have are actually the gmpp's, so this could fall under that "package consideration" thing.
