5/16 locks on an 8mm valve stem????? Has anyone done this? The makers of xceldyne retainers and locks are telling me it's ok and that with the psi spring I bought I have to run their retainer with this spring and that they only make 1 lock for that retainer due to it being a 7* top lock. Said that the difference between the 5/16 and the 8mm are close enough to be safe. Any input from y'all would be great including sponsors. Are any dealers for these brands? |
I know there is only a couple thousands difference in the two I think it would be ok but I would do some more checking before I did it |
All I can say is, I just found out yesterday that the battery cable bolts are 5/16". I've been using 8mm for years and years on the 7 I've had, and the two GM trucks I've had :bang: |
I would not equate using an 8mm socket on a 5/16 bolt with doing so on valve retainers. |
I would trust Xceldyne's word over anything I read or heard on the internet |

FYI, 5/16" = 0.3125 & 8mm = 0.3150, that's a difference of 0.025". I'd be looking at how the locks fit grooves in the valve stem... |

You may have been having a bad day, but the difference is .0025" (or two and a half thousandths), not .025" (or twenty five thousandths of an inch). I would believe what Xceldyne says as well. |
Thanks I am going to go with what they say. I Just hoped someone's had ran into this. |
