Default Please help me with my cam selection

I have a auto t/a with bolt ons, and a fast 90/90combo stock stall and 3.73 gears(prolly goung to go back to 3.42)...i will be turboing the car soo. and want a cam that will give me some n/a gains, and also work well with my 69mm turbo...i want a touch(just a bit) more lope than a z06 cam...hoping for about 400hp n/a, and only pushing the car to 500 with the turbo, so nothing radical..

If you are talking rwhp then 400 n/a with a boost cam is unrealistic. the duration splits are completely different with a boost cam and the lsa will be larger to keep you from loosing boost through the exhaust valve.

A 222/222 116LSA cam with endurance style lobes will be good for NA power until you get your turbo.

@ patrick what do you mean by endurance style lobes. and this will also work with a turbo running 9psi?

why would you limit yourself with a small factory cam? I don't think you'd see 400 at the motor....maybe at the radiator or bumper support....?

yea, Patrick G informed me to go with a 222/222 116 cam, so I might just have him spec me one.

I thought that the LS6 cam would give me a nice little bump in n/a power and still.work.with the turbo without getting some crazy turbo cam

It will give you more hp and would work with the turbo setup, but you wont make 400rwhp na with it. and since you are buying a camshaft anyway does it not make sense to optimize the camshaft to the setup? I mean you can throw a t-rex or ms4 in there and make 400+ rwhp but you will have issues when the turbo is installed.

IMO have patG spec you a cam for your turbo setup and wait to put it in until you have the turbo kit ready to go. If you do a cam now and then the turbo later thats 2 tunes you will pay for. And if you do it all at once you wont have to worry about the camshaft you buy performing N/A.
