I don't think you could dig out that epoxy cleanly if you tried ... at least without destroying the the whole unit. It's probably stronger than the original material.

I just realized, the seller on ebay selling the delrin part IS a member on this forum and posted about these in October on this forum...

I have not sold any of them before because I just made the first set of them. I was doing research to verify the Delrin in an engine. I found out the OEM's use Delrin in engines to make the chain guides. So, once I got the material sourced out with the correct bolts and made them, they turned out great. I just think one solid piece is the way to go.

And yes, I am the seller on Ebay.

FWIW I installed the modified dampener that the original thread starter ZexGX posted about and have had no problems with it.

Which flavor of Delrin are you using? There are lots of different types of Delrin, and there are lots of other acetal copolymer resins that people call Delrin (a Dupont brand name) on the internet even though they're really not the Dupont stuff. If you did the due diligence to figure out exactly which type of Delrin the OEMs are using as chain guides, and you bought that same type, then if I were you I'd put that in my ebay ad.

I've had my double roller heat treated Rollmaster in my motor for over 5 years, been through 3 motor builds, 3 sets of valve springs on my L92 engine(7700 rpm shifts eat springs) and mine is still tight as the day I remember installing it(had a rough time getting it on in the first place)

after buying a ls2 chain and one of these chain guides, couldn't you just buy a double roller? for the same money?

Interestingly enough, it turns out I didn't need the original one from Katech. I found that both the LS6 long block I picked up, and the original LS6 in my '05 CTS-V, have a timing chain damper already installed. Here's the new engine:

Note that it's black plastic, not tan like the one I got from Katech. I just popped out to the garage for a quick comparison and it appears the bolt spacing is different. I'll have to get an actual measurement later.

redbird555 said earlier in this thread that he had an '01 LS6 that didn't even have the boss drilled to install the part. Based on his data point, and these two engines I have sitting in my garage, it would appear that GM stopped using the tan timing chain damper on the LS1s and LS6s at some point, then at some later date began using the LS2 style black plastic damper.

Gen IV spacing. Even on Gen III, many Gen IV qualities were used on the Gen III as the years progressed.

I have a double roller adjustable with this. Fits great. Although, like mentioned before, the tension/lash is so tight, I doubt it will ever be needed. I'm happy to have the insurance.

I just wanted to let others know that they are out there. I couldn't get them from the dealers.
