wow Awesome results, humm might have to ditch my 4l60e, most iv seen with an ls1 and cam and head packages have blown the gearboxes and rebuilt them to handle big power and they've blown again, most of these guys iv seen have gone to manual boxes but i do love my auto's for the street and track.

And considering mines getting a 383 stroker kit put through it atm with a decent cam, i could be blowing the box up very quick.

So the TH400 is the way to go then for strength and reliability? will this bolt straight up to my current setup no hastles? as in i can still use my tail shaft, wiring connectors, etc?

Good luck with you 383 .. What heads/cam/intake setup are you planning for ?

TH400 (A3) with basic and cheap rebuild can take what ever power you want
There is not electonics in the TH400 ( it is old transmission )

You can find threads about Th400 conversion here .. But most of them are f-bodies so you best bet to search in LS1GTO.com cause we will do the th400 in fox body not on the same Holden car

oh ok, Th400 might be the trans they run in the old commodores here, i know those gear boxes copped a lot and were great with mods.
They were a cable adjustment but went to electronic later on i think (i could be wrong).

i'm going to use the 241 casting heads but either hand ported through a guy near my work that has a very big rep in the Auto scene here as an A1 machinists. or could get them cnc'd at another place.

intake will be either ls6 manifold with a 85mm throttle body, would go to a fast 102 and 90/92mm throttle body but may go a whipple or twin turbo's later down the track so 50/50 if its worth spending the money(but that's long term plans).

Decided i will be going with comps 235/243 .617/.624 on a 113 lsa. http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...csid=1404&sb=0

its got -8cc dish Wiseco forged pistons and thinner cometics head gaskets (0.027") to bring the comp up, heads will be milled to 64cc chambers which should give me about 11:1 comp or if stick with 66cc will give me bout 10.8:1, K1- 4" forged crank and K1- 6.125 rods. 25% underdrive pulley.

Getting Rotating assembly, balancer and factory fly wheel all balanced and checked while at machine shop.

Got a double roller timing chain kit, just got to work out if i port my ls1 oil pump and put new gears in it while at machine shop, or get one already ported.

going to use Lunati dual valve springs 0.660 lift from memory.
42cc injectors, thicker pushrods 0.080" i think (does that sound right?) got to check length though when go back together.
Morel tie bar lifters- getting rid of lifter trays.
Yella Terra 1.7 roller rockers.

Exhaust- 1-7/8 headers, twin hi-flow 100 cell cats 3" and twin 3" exhaust. was thinking 1-3/4 headers but every where iv spoken to have said get 1-7/8.

(was going -3cc pistons with 0.040" head gaskets but a delay on parts and got a deal on the -8cc and were in stock.)
Probably more i can't think off.

May run E85 or a mix, see how we go with availability. Will be using our 98 octane premium petrol if E85 unavailable.
