cam'd car...still bored...

So i put in a torquer V3 about a month and a half ago, and the car made 383/360 at the wheels. I still need injectors, MAF(bad), and fuel pump. But is it sad that im already bored with the power? lol.... I plan on buying a 150shot n20 kit from nitrous outlet sometime in the next couple of months but im afraid ill get bored with that too... Kinda of kicked around the idea of building up a 408 also starting with a short block from TSP, but thats really expensive....what would you guys do? Any of you ever get bored this quickly?

IF your bored now nitrous is just gonna be a damn tease trust me. Youll love it when you spray but when you run out youll be pissed off. Take it from someone who knows. Id go with a blower or turbo personally. Maybe pick up an LQ4 and a turbo kit and then sell the ls1 to recoupe a lot of the money.

see, ive thought about that too. Now im not too familiar wth the LQ4....is that the truck engine 6.0? iron block? Should i buy new, or just go to the junk yard and pick one up? A pro charger is $6000 new though....thats......outrageous. id def want a supercharger over turbo i think. instant power, less heat ect.. id like to spend no more than like $6-8000, this would be over a course of a year also.... its still just an idea, but i dont really have any idea waht direction i want to go... I figured i could go ahead and get a wet plate kit, and i could always put that on wahtever i build too.... decisions decisions... O, my other thought was just to sell the car and buy a 1998 mustang 2v GT:wrist:

lq4 is the iron block 6.0 that works very very well with boost. you can get them froma junk yard for under a grand with decent mileage on them and they are stout. Its a lot of work so you could always just throw a procharger on your LS1 that makes the most sense really.

i think youll get bored with spray, the whole reason i built my 93 coupe was because i was tired of not having the power all the time.

I'll say boosted lq4 also....plus on down the road you can bore/stroke it into a 408

So ur saying a stock lq4 handles boost very well? Or would I have to forge it so it'll handle it. I've also thought about finding a used pro charger for my ls1 but I dunno if it'd work with the cam I got. Procharger would b the cheapest route next to n20. I'd do that if it'd work with my cam.

That cam you have needs a set of heads ( Stg II 243's or 5.3's ) to really shine thru. Once they are installed and your car is re-tuned, you will be pleased . :D

LQ4s can handle a decent amount of boost with no mods at all. I've seen one push 600+rwhp with a 76mm turbo, intercooler, and meth.

well, could i run a procharger with... say.... 5-8psi of boost with the cam i have? If i can run FI with my cam, ill just go that route, ill pick up a used procharger and a set of injectors, order a new TB and be done with it. Then when i blow it up, ill do something else lol

You may lose a little boost up top but itll run just fine with a centrifigual blower. The more overlap the cam has, the less boost friendly it is.

allout06 Jul 8, 2011 04:07 AM

ok awesome, its probably a good thing to loose a little boost on top anyway for me having a stock bottom....if it made 475-500rwhp with a blower, thatd b sweet. is that a realistic goal?, or am i asking for too much? Just my current mods, and slap on a blower, bigger tb (85mm), 85mm MAF, 60lb injectors?, and new fuel pump. and of course a re-tune. this should probably get moved to the forced induction section now lol.

Get a set of heads then go from there.
