kvpaintbal 10-07-2011 06:41 PM

I wanna go ls1 hot cam or ls3something like tht, ???? Not a comp or crane?

garygnu 10-07-2011 08:29 PM

comp cam lsr cams are good lobes.you need to talk to a cam company rep and tell them every thing about your engine build..what heads do you have on the 5.3 ?

Darkman 10-07-2011 08:37 PM

Take a look at the Engine Power Systems website for some options.

I have stock heads, I wanna cam it, the later on maybe do a lil head work nothing much man, id really like to run a ls cam tho, leave u heard of a ls1 hot cam?

low2001gmc 10-08-2011 10:29 AM

sounds like you want more of a daily driver friendly cam......tr220, proven on 5.3s and easy on the springs for longevity.......

kvpaintbal 10-08-2011 11:55 AM

Ok man, so who makes this cam

bigantws6 10-08-2011 11:58 AM

thunder racing

kvpaintbal 10-08-2011 05:37 PM

I looked that cam up , seems like a pretty good choice, another guy told me a Texas speed torquer v 2 cam??? Said it was also daily driver friendly, what springs should I get ls 6????

Sorry to go off topic on this thread, but I saw your post and was wondering what is the LSA on the 224r / 228r?

:hijack:

lemons12 10-08-2011 05:40 PM

A torquer is a bit larger for a dd 5.3 imo. I'd go 224r..

Ls1 hotcam is a waste.

kvpaintbal 10-08-2011 05:53 PM

Ok man, ill check out that one! Um what springs would I need

Duffster 10-08-2011 06:00 PM

Something that will handle the extra lift. A common choice is either the patriot golds or the patriot gold extreme springs... good for 0.650 and 0.660 respectively. usually around 240-270ish or pick up new from people on here anywhere from 200-250 :) with retainers and such...

kvpaintbal 10-08-2011 06:08 PM

O ok man, good deal, ima getn ready to order them, still debating on a cam yet, hard decision I wanna do this one time! U know

bigantws6 10-08-2011 11:42 PM

I just order my cam today I went with a Tsp 228r on a 110lsa for a dd

Mazzenger 10-09-2011 09:08 AM

I agree with Lemons12.

garygnu 10-09-2011 09:28 AM

go to either TSP or thunder racing website and look at complete cam pkgs for under $600.consider the tr224 or the TSP 224r.the EPS lobes are a little better then the other cams listed,Geoff worked for thunder racing then started his own company.you can also contact Patrick-G for a EPS cam.you can use comp cam 918 springs for most cams under .600 lift. PAC 1218 or 1518 springs are a little better.

kvpaintbal 10-10-2011 09:08 PM

Ok man well im almost positive im going with the v2, I know the 7.4 ps/rods, and PAC 650.s, ima try it man hope for the best, I wanna be streetable. But also wont to leave lil room for head and intake mods
