Default what to expect? stock cam w/243's & ls6 intake

Long story short - over budget already.

I have a set of stock 243's and a LS6 intake to go in my LS1 mustang swap project. The future is likely forced induction so buying cam/springs/pushrods/.... for the initial n/a setup now seems like throwing $600+ away. What kind of hp & torque #'s could I expect with just the 243's, LS6 intake and long tube headers? I know most guys upgrade the cam prior to swapping heads, anybody ever do it assbackwards like I'm considering?

Some would argue that doing the heads before the cam is the correct way. By upgrading the heads first you will not only see a gain initially but the gains from your cam upgrade will be much greater. People that go with a cam before heads are not reaching their full potential with that cam. The heads are what truely opens the LS1's. With your current set up, I would expect 380ish, and easily 400-415 with a good cam.

Id say closer to 350 or 360. Freak bolt on LS6s are making close to or over 400 and they have better exhaust design and of course the LS6 cam. Most ive seen dyno around 380 so with a stock LS1 cam 360 is reasonable

You will def be in the mid to high 360-370 range. Prob closer to 400 with a decent cam...

350-370 should make for a fun 3200 pound daily driver.

Maybe I should look into a LS6 cam, seems like you can pick them up cheap. I'd pick up some more power n/a and have a good starting point when the turbo enters the combo. Obviously the yellow valve springs on my 243's are a good match for that cam, do I use the stock ls1 pushrods or a different length? Anything else I'd need for the cam swap? I know, I should put in new lifters & trays but I've already spent too much. Only the necessities at this point.

look at the mods i have when u click on my garage. im an auto and i made 362hp, 364ft-lbs on 17x11's 315/35r17 bfg drag radials on a dynojet. ran a 12.50 at 113mph. since then ive added a yank 3600 converter but havent been able to hook at the track so some different tires are in order. im thinking of going with the 335/35r17 hoosier drag radials....
