The GMPP pump pumps more volume than the LS6 or any of the stock pumps .

Unless you have a large oil pan (6+ quarts) I would just run the ls6 pump, I only run high volume pumps with larger oil pans so I don't starve the bottom end, ls6 prob cheaper...Plus you can disassemble it and clean up the castings for free...just my 2

i bought the GMPP because it is cheaper than the LS6. When i got it, the LS6 part number was engraved on the back.

LOL, the ugly truth rears it's head.

Reality strikes!

Nice that the "higher flowing" part is actually cheaper...

Thanks for posting actual experience!

Standard! You gotta love marketing! Although that pump is probably an ls6 design which is higher quality than early ls1 oil pumps, mine off my 98 wasn't as nice as the ls6 I bought.

You don't need a high flowing pump... It will just drain your sump.. ported LS6 is just fine.

If that were really the case, then all those people that put in a melling HV would be on here talking about what a piece of crap it is. Is there any real proof out there that a high volume pump (which we showed that this pump is just a LS6 pump) will suck 6 quarts of oil out of the pan before it goes back through?

street use, drag racing with a bigger volume sump will be ok, road racing or anywhere you are using high rpm for extended times it's not suitable. It's not a problem with how much it flows just that the oil doesn't drain back quick enough.
Hence why road race cars use a dry sump system or standard pumps with the bigger baffled sump.

I have seen two of our local guys with their street cars do track days & blow their engines due to high volume pumps....they had been warned, but they knew better.
