Smallest amount of stroke

What is the least amount of stroke a 346 can have over stock? I mean if you stroke it, does it automatically become a 383, or is there a smaller yet bigger than stock rotating assembly? I have seen rebuild assemblies that are 347 cu in but nothing between that and 383 cu in!

The 383 is the popular 4"stroke crank.I know you can get 3.9" cranks and some use them in heavy nitrous motors.I would check Callies but others probably make them .It may be that you won't find any budget cranks between stock and 4" stroke size. There must be others on here that can give you better info.

So at 3.9" stroke and factory size piston the Cu In would be...? I am just trynin to unconfuse myself with how cubic inches are increased over stock....

An LS1 with a 4.00" crank is a 383 ci.....so a 346 with a 3.90" stroke would be closer to 370 ci? This guy was taking about how he has a 370 rotating assembly in his LS1...it hit me like wtf....i thought they only had 383 assemblies....IDK..Help me out here

That comes around 372 ci.Is that guys motor a LS1 block? If you have a iron block (4"bore)bored .030 over with stock stroke you get a 370ci.motor.That would be a 408 with the 4" stroke.I don't know how you get 370ci with the smaller LS1 bore.

A .005 over ls1 block with a 3.9 stroke would net you 373 cubes.

You can get 3.75 stroke cranks but you would need custom pistons. That would net you 359 cubes.

For a lot less than a forged crank, you can have your stock crank offset ground to any stroke within it's capabilities.

For instance, a .005 over ls1 block with a stock crank offset ground to 3.8 would net you 363 cubes.

But of course with any off the wall strokes like that you will need custom pistons.
