Yes, you will NEED a new balancer since a piece is missing. Its going to take some weight off of one side.

Check the boards for a used one and stick a thread in the WTB forum. They will probably be $$$$$$ from GM.

I feel sick. I've never done a cam swap in an LS1 before. I was following the instructions on that LS1howto site to the "T" I successfully changed all the springs (thanks to the kick *** Larry tool) I just lost my job and I can't afford to be buying **** like this.

I figured I'd be all smart and call a dealer in California (I'm in Michigan) but I missed them by 5 minutes. I wonder if free long distance on a cell phone includes Hawaii?

If the one on the left is an Fbody pulley, which it probably is. You can have it for $10 + shipping. I bought it for my vette, my pulley fell on the cradle and chipped like yours, but this is what I got instead of a vette pulley.

yeah that's an f-body one.

You could also try chipping off a similar piece on the other side of the pulley

btw - its just a plain ol' pulley - LS1's are "internally balanced"...
