Rockers for my 383

Just wondering what Rockers some off you recommend for my LS383.
Mods are in the siq, cam specs are; 230/234 .600/.612 113LSA +1.

I have used Crane Gold Race aluminum roller rocker arms in my engine for the past 7 years.

They come in two different ratios:

1.7:1 - part number 144750-16 available at Summing Racing for approximately $860.

1.8:1 - part number 144759-16 available at Summit Racing for approximately $860.

The 1.8:1 rocker arms will increase the lift at your valve to .635" and .648".

For long term reliability I would use stock rockers and upgrade the trunnions...I like the stock ones because they are easier to set up than the roller rockers, but if you got the money and the know how roller rockers can net a few extra hp...

Anything from Comp, Crane or Scorpion will give you great reliability. I Stock and Sell many products from all three and have always had great luck

The reason I'm looking at new rockers is because the cam above is new, and will be installed soon. The rockers which are in the car now are COMP 1.85.s and some people tell me not to use them because they will upset the harmonics of the engine.

Anyone agree or disgree with that statement?

Hey Justin, when you putting the cam in???

Justin Gibbons 02-27-2012 05:31 PM

Hopefully by the end of March!!

Do you sell 1.7 Yella Terra rockers?

MikeFSKSpeed 03-01-2012 08:43 AM

I dont stock them anymore, but I can always have them dropshipped to you. Feel free to PM me with any questions

I personally had major valve float with harlard sharp 1.7 rockers on my 383. I have an aggressive .620 lift 240 duration cam. I was running TFS heads which have a heavier intake valve. I swapped to yella terra 1.7 lightweights, fresh springs, TEA LS3 hollowstem turned down intake valves and gained 40hp/30tq to the tire.

I talked to a lot of people about this. The only thing that is bad about the stock rocker with trununion upgrade is cams with .600 and over lift, it will cause the guides to wear unless they are bronze.

I would NOT run those 1.8 or 1.85's you said you have with stock rockers. Just spend the money on the yella terras, they are worth it.

I have a set of YT Ultra Lites with 20k on them I will let go for $200 shipped. I can't get to them until next week but if you are not in a hurry PM me.

Has anyone had any good luck with the Scorpions?

I don't know if they were revised or not but when they first came out they had a rep for breaking which I think is why hardly anybody on here runs them anymore....

.

if you HAVE bronze they will wear out faster, the bronze guides are softer then what the factory heads use, thats why TF and such state you should run roller rockers

does this happen to every one? no, but everyone has there .02 about it, im up in the air about it as well

Thanks, thats what I meant, the powdered metal ones are the better ones.

On my old 346 motor with .650 lift cam and ported 243's I had some guid wear when it was tore down. The companies I talked to about it had different opinions, I have always prefferred to try andf do it right the 1st time
