Default Spun a bearing :( Not sure what engine to go with next.

Well my 13 year old LS1 finally died. It was a trusty engine, got me thru college... and made nearly 400rwhp.
What I want to do is build an engine with a forged bottom end, swap all my mods over, and hit it with a nice big shot of nitrous ( 250+ hp ) or supercharge it.
What I need is advice as to what engine to build next. These are the options I've been thinking about; any comments, suggestions, etc would be appreciated.
1) Build a forged LQ4 / LQ9 + supercharge
2) Build a stock displacement LS1 + supercharge
3) Go with a 383 stoker LS1 + nitrous
4) Find an LS2 and swap in forged pistons + nitrous
Any pros and cons that I should consider?

Even though it weighs 87 more pounds I went with and recomend the lq4/9. If you have the money, go for the 4" crank and start building your 408....the iron lq motors are pretty cheap and starting out with more cubes always helps build more power

That actually sounds like a pretty good idea...
Do any sponsors sell a 4" crank?
Also does the iron block mess up the suspension, would I need new springs?

Yup, Texas Speed and a few other sell all the parts you need.

Build enough power and you might want heavier springs to keep the front end from bottoming out after your wheelie

You might want a little heavier front spring if you are going for perfection, but should be able to use the springs you have....move the battery to the back over the rear right tire and run a tubular K member and the extra frontend weight is gone.

Ok, so I've looked locally and it looks like I can get a nice LQ4 for about $1000.00, rotating assembly for a 402 is $1700, and I'm sure I'll pay at least $700 in machining so my total comes to $3400.
For $1000 bucks more I can get a Texas Speed assembled LS2 short block though. So its coming awfully close to the price of a built engine.

Don't forget if you go with the ls2 you will need a conversion box for the crank trigger and modify your cam sensor/ harness to run off the front of the ls2.

Would I also need to do this with a LQ4?

That $1000 you could spend on a block or just stuff yours silly with good parts. Yes there is no replacement for displacement but that extra could buy some nice rods. Plenty of guy are making awesome power on stock cubes. I'd forge what you have and force induce that little sucker.

Look around locally (craigslist, etc) and you should be able to find a LQ4 block for $200 or less.

I ran an ad on craigslist and got a call within 5 minutes.

LS3 isn't on my list... I know very little about them but I'm pretty sure it's past my price point.
