Default Can I run the 918 springs?

I just got a new cam with a 595 lift, and I don't know if I should use the 918 springs (I already have them) or go with a dual spring. I don't to spend the money, because my wife will kill me. So I would like some more info on the 918 springs.
Thanks
Nick Watson

which cam is it, if its an aggressive XE-R-esque cam with high duration i'd consider dual springs. but if your tight on money im pretty sure the 918's will be fine. the PP dual spring kit though is only 300 bucks and im sure you can find a sponsor that carries them thats having a 10% off or some kind of deal to get them even cheaper. just make sure your wife doesnt know

i figured it was the tsp231. the 918's w/ tit. retainers would be fine. the 231 is on a lobe thats not very agressive. lots of guys running that cam on single springs.

I think you will be fine with the 918/titanium retainers. Me personally I like to use double springs but that is because they will probably last more than 20K miles. A friend of mine has that same exact cam you are getting and he is using the comp 918's with it. It is working great for him so far. Good luck

Where did the idea come from that 918s will not last past 20K miles? I can't speak for a BIG cam, but I know of more than a couple people using 918s for well over 30K without issues on moderate sized non-"R" grind cams.....

I'll keep mine for 40-50K.

A lot of people recommend to change them every 20K miles. Do a search!

20K is fine for a mostly race car with an aggressive cam. 20K is too often for a street car with a mild to moderate cam, IMO. That's what I was getting at with my post.....
