lq4 questions ok so i totalled my 04 silverado with an lq4 so i pulled it to build it and swap into my 2000 camaro. it had 160000 miles all from me on the highway. i only ran fully synthetic oil and babied it. wen i pulled the heads i was very pleased to see that it looked amazing still has the factory cross hatching. i will post pics soon to prove it. now the question i think i might just do bearings and rings no boring would that be a good idea? |
You will want to run a hone in and out of the bores a couple times to break any glaze and help the new rings seat |
do a compression/leak down check... if its still within spec and held good pressure, Id run it as is... |
ya im definatley going to hone it. still cant believe the condition of it. my friend bought an lq4 from a junk yard and it only had 80000 and it was in terrible shape on the inside. i plan to do a stock bottom end and a front mount turbo |
