Default Does this come off? SLP Double Roller

Going to install a SLP double roller chain, Does this tensioner need to come off for its install and proper operation?

Its an LS1 and I guess its a rare part on the LS1.

Thanks,

You shouldn't need to remove it if the chain will not slide past it, but you can. It's only two bolts. I've been looking for that for my LS1 because I installed the SLP double roller timing set and oil pump. I wasn't sure what motor I had when I first got it and bought the Katech LS6 damper which I will end up selling cheap soon. Good luck.

take the damper off, put the the cam gear and timing chain on. then put the damper back on.
