piston questions
im currently building a forged ls1 that will be getting a F1 procharger. now my question is i am putting a set of 317's on it and they will not be milled or altered except maybe a mild port job. i dont know too much about the internal side of things and would like to get advice on what forged pistons i should be looking for, (piston type, brand, etc.) and the same for rods. most likely i will just get a stock cast crank as they are good 800 or so hp from what ive seen, however whatever forged/special internals so i also need to look into getting? need some help with this build as im new to engine building

If your sticking with a small cam you really won't have to worry too much about ptv clearance, so I would just go with a slightly fished forged piston to center most of the combustion pressure in the middle of the piston...maybe a 4-8cc dish, and a good set of forged rods....I beam rods are lighter, but H beams are stronger.

You need to know how much the block needs to be honed first. With a LS1, they usually hone the bore out to 3.905". This is with the stock stroke crank, right? A set of Diamond pistons with -2cc valve relief would be about right for boost and using those heads. Compression ratio would be about 9.6 or so.

I would recommend you look into a Wiseco piston with a callies rod. Both of these components can handle that kind of power with out an issue. Wiseco pistons have a very thick crown and all come with a steel top ring set, and the callies rods come with an ARP 2000 rod bolt so little to no worries there.
