Finally got around to checking it. On my ls7 lifters with no springs on the valves I came up with .100 and I think I had the adjustable pr too long just a hair... But my question is... How do i get the hot pink modeling clay out of between the piston and the cyl wall? There is a little bit stuck to the piston.

try using alittle oil on both sides of the clay to keep it from sticking. seemed to help me when i checked mine. as far as on the walls, id say the only thing you can do is move the piston up and down till it goes away. what little bit might get left would burn off i would assume

It's all off besides just a little bit stuck to the top ring land. And no way to get it out so I hope it doesn't hurt it. The heads are being torqued down tomorrow for the last time.

i was going to suggest a 100 shot. that stuff is like seafoam but way better.

Amen to that LOL When I tore apart my LS1 on the camaro (before 370 transplant), my friend (a mechanic) asked me "How do you keep a 75k miles motor so clean?" and my answer was
"Daily nitrous bursts!"

no kidding. we removed the heads from a 130k mile motor that had a few 150 hits on it...if i didn't know better i would have guessed it was a 35k mile shortblock. the cylinder walls still had crisp crosshatching and the pistons/valves/heads were stupid clean. i love these engines haha.
