Engine hasn't been started in over a year...

My project has sat for just over a year. I'm installing a rebuilt trans in the next couple of weeks and wanted to know if I need to do anything to the engine before starting it?

You could put a little oil down in the cylinders or you could pull the valve covers off and splash some oil on the rockers but honestly I think it'd be fine to just fire it up. I'd change the oil and maybe the plugs.

Thanks. I didn't expect to have this car sit for so long without starting it. It has been sitting in my garage in sunny California so for my lack of not "winterizing" it, I hope it is OK.

I'm not familiar with these LS1's much. I take it you can't prime the system like on a old chevy or f*rd? Those were easy with a drill and shaft tool to spin the oil pump through the distributor hole.

It'll probably be fine as is. I've let mine sit for 8 months in storage and it started right up.

Would be good to build up the pressure but like said should be fine. All depends on how over kill you want to get.

Better safe than sorry. What's an easy method to build pressure prior to firing?

Unhook the coil packs so it doesn't fire and turn it over.
