The cranes are 699 and come with pushrods. Vinci sells an identical part same price. The comp cams 1.75's are almost negligable in terms of increased lift..... .580 lift is .597 with those and they are only 450 and look like they weigh less.(they are also fully adjustable.)

What is the purpose of spending the extra money on adjustables if the YT's will work with shimming?

Shimming is not the correct approach. It is a "might work", but not the proper way to do things. Shimming can , and usually does, adversely affect the valvetrain geometry. Personally, I only shim when it is necessary. Adding shims affects the pushrod/rocker and rocker/valve angles. Do it right or don't do it. If you need adjustables, buy adjustables.

for instance you have the heads cut down .030 to gain compression. this brings the head closer to the block. thus shortening the distance. so you would then either need to get shorter pushrods to correct the valvetrain geometry problem. or get adjustable rocker arms.

To add to mrr23:

When you are using solid/mechanical lifters instead of hydraulics
When you are using modified hydraulic lifters(i.e. Comp R, Strubeck<however you spell that>, etc)
When you require a great deal of valvetrain stability(high end rockers are almost always adjustable)

Shimming is not an exact science, and you don't get exactly where you want to be.....just close. Besides, they weigh too much on the tip causing fatigue on the valve springs in some instances leading to valve float. I have comp R lifters and want to be dead on.

Well, I didn't see Jesel's on Speed Inc's website. It seems the Comp Cams are really 1.75 and not 1.7; I don't want the extra lift.

I want a true 1.7 that comes as rockers only, adjustable, and fits under the stock valvecovers without spacers. Which one of these will suit my needs?

So if you have hade 30 thou taken off the heads. And you have got yella terras 1.8 ratio, You should take the 30 thou plus the amount the ratio change provides? Am i right if the ratio change makes say 40 thou ,And the heads being shaved makes 30 thou ,Thats 70 thou shorter push rods you need? is that right? As i have all of the above. And also have rattly tappets . But yet if i put the original's back on it's quite as!!!
