I cant get over how high your gona spin it. I had dreams of a car that would do that, but your acually doing it. What springs are you using, and im curious to see how much meaner the added compression will make this cam sound.

Congrats Phil, Glad to see you got it running. Doug said the thing is a beast. You've got everyone on the edge of their seat waiting for your dyno numbers.

Set up for some intense tuning next wednesday. Sorry no sound clip yet, my camera setup is a big pain in the ... Will try to put a video clip of some extreme rpm's on the dyno. A friend at work has a nice digital setup.

The pop at the end of the clip is the hood shutting.

Lazer, I'm not 100% correct on this so correct me if I am wrong. I always thought that the lower your ICL was, the lower your peak power would occur. Am I wrong?

there is a ton more to valve events than the duration and ICL numbers. with duration that high, the motor has to peak higher and higher.

Sweet man, I bet that thing sounds insane in person.

I have a hard time understanding why it's necessary to spin the motor that high, though. My T-ReX is a 243/249 on a 110 and there's no way it's going to pull to anything close to 8000 RPMs. It peaks well under 7000 RPMs, in fact. With less intake duration, only two degrees more exhaust duration and an LSA that's three degrees tighter, you should peak lower than the T-ReX.

But I could be wrong.

Attached is Jason's T-ReX dyno graph.

I agree with some of the other guys on this topic. I think without a custom racing sheetmetal intake and some really good racing headers your peak power wont be anyway near 8,000. The intake manifold is the main limiting factor on High Rpm's with the LS1. I think you will make peak power right abot 6500-6700. You may not drop off of that pic too much up until around 7200, but after that, the intake will not able able to support those kind of Rpm's.

I am willing to say that at a very least it will peak at 7400. My hot cam and stock ls1 intake made peak to 6600. Plus we did a little work to the ls6 intake that will be worth something. This engine is regularly spun 7600 in grandam series.

GA Cam:
Intake closing 6* earlier -> Higher DCR than TRex

Overlap is 7* greater than TRex

Shouldn't this move power peak above TRex?? I don't neccessarily mean more HP just the PEAK - should spin higher.

Excellent points!

I still don't see it going anywhere near 8000 RPMs, though.

FWIW. Dave Farmer ran the WCC series with the same basic engine for a couple years. Dave said he routinely spun his to 7500 rpm.

Hey guys
Have this cam with 1.85 comp pro mag rockers, comp 921 springs, comp r lifter, ty retainers, manley valves and getting seriuos valve float. What springs etc are you guys using or the world challenge cars?
It does make power upto 6500 until it floats and sure it will keep climbing if we can control it.We have it 4 deg advance, we may bump it back to 1 or 2 deg advance. This cam sounds tough as. Has anyone got a graph showing were this cam peaks and do they really rev it to past 7500? Hope so.We have ran a mid 11 1/4 mile in a 4000pd commodore at low revs & 12.4 a/f. Info would help.
cheers aussie ls1s
p.s thinking of running 918 beehive springs and 1.75 rockers to fix the problem.

I have no trouble with valve float at 7000 at my limiter. I used the Scogging Dickie springs that are good to 600 lift, harland sharp rockers 1.7 ratio(they were 8 grams lighter than stock) 7.35 push rods, titanium retainers, light weight ls6 valves, installed the cam @ 107 for best power and rpm's, stock lifters are good for the rpm's also. I would say that your 1.85 rockers, springs and lifters is where your trouble is. Will post a graph on Wednesday night. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply
What would be wrong with the lifters. Have you guys been having trouble with comp r lifters.
The comp pro mag rockers are light weight over the tip of valve, i am going to drop the ratio down to 1.75 comps. Are thes rockers working for others?
Cheers

Default Dyno numbers

The car made 450hp / 383trq through open header. Through the exhaust it made 436.8hp / 397.4trq. Didn't get to rev it past 7400rpm, it made peak at 6750. Will figure out how to post the graph tomorow.

I think your numbers look good! How much variance is to be expected with different dyno's? LGM posted a WCC car, last year, and I think it was 470 rwhp at around 6700 RPM. What was your AFR??

My point being you are only off 20 hp from LGMs numbers. Heck, they run WCC cars.
Congrats!!!!!!!
