Cylinder head 853's

I recently bought a 2000 camaro. Its a head and cam car. I was told it had ls6 heads on the car. He had a receipt for the heads so I assumed he wasn't lying. Retarded ass move.

Took all the numbers down off the heads and heres as follows,

Casting number: 853
Drivers side stamped number: 9826916068229855
Passenger side stamped number: 8269r3362856

Can you guys help me out figure this shit out? any idea what I have on my car?

Thanks

they are stock heads...sry to break the bad news

mrada6998 Aug 12, 2012 08:07 PM

damn it.
i appreciate the help, i just didnt see that coming because i have another set of stock heads that came with the car.

any suggestions on cheap heads that will help me make more power?

hotrodth Aug 12, 2012 08:25 PM

what do you consider cheap? Texas speed had a great set of heads for 1300.00 prc state 2.5 5.3 heads. they are cnc ported and also raise compression. great heads...

mrada6998 Aug 12, 2012 08:31 PM

thats not too bad. is that what you run?

and i see you have gears in your car, with my big profile cam i wanted to do some gears so its not so bad in the low rpm, did the 3.73's make a difference?

OutrunNAScaR14 Aug 12, 2012 09:41 PM

3.73 in my car was one of the biggest differences I've felt. Cheap horsepower in gears.

mrada6998 Aug 12, 2012 10:03 PM

yeah i really wanna get like 4.10s or 3.90's....did you have an m6 or a4?

i didnt think that 3.73's would be a noticable upgrade for an m6 cause it already has 3.42's

They may be stock castings...but they could have still have work done to them. Butt dyno should be able to tell you that.

Get some 243 heads and get some head worj

mrada6998 Aug 13, 2012 10:44 AM

Ok. What's the difference between 243 heads and the Texas speed prc 2.5's?

baxsom Aug 13, 2012 11:16 AM

243 heads are the stock heads that LS6 and LS2 cars came with (also badged 799)
some 243 heads had lighter weight valves.

the stage 2.5 heads from TSP are from a 5.3L engine. I have a set on my 00C5. For 1200 bucks, I got a compression bump, CNC heads, dual springs and when combined with my 228R cam dynoed at 240 to the wheels.

240 rwhp? do you mean 440?

243s are the stock LS6 heads. Texas Speed has 5.3 heads and LS6 heads with the 2.5 upgrades.

yeah i was looking at their site, texas speed, and the flow number at a .600 lift are pretty much the same on both the prc and ls6 heads and the chambers are almost the same cc's. does anyone have a recommendation on one vs the other?

badazz81z28 Aug 13, 2012 04:32 PM

PRC LS6 heads have different runners than the 5.3 heads. They will make more power over the 5.3 heads all day long.

mrada6998 Aug 14, 2012 10:23 AM

alright. thanks alot for all the info.

with a non ported ls6 intake, shoudl i consider upgrading that when i do the heads or will that flow well enough?
