Default is it worth building a 383 stroker with a LM7?

Hey guys, was just looking at the 383 kits on TSP's website, and at $1800 is it worth doing? A 5.3L with forged rods and pistons and pushed to a 347 would be more reasonable. Would there be a big differance in a hp/trq with a 383 over a 347, to justify the price?

here is a good read on the 5.3L and what different routes you can go with it.

Really depends on what your trying to achieve with the car. No doubt the added cubes and additional stroke will net you some nice gains all the way across the board and not just at peak rpm. On a side note a 347 is a bit cheaper and is still a very nice improvement over what the stock 5.3 has to offer in N/A form.

IMO keep it 347 and use the $$ saved on crank towards a set of heads.

If your going boost then I would stick with a stock stroke setup in this particular case.

Why wouldn”t it be better to stroke it for boost?

Nothing wrong with a boosted build with a 4.000 inch stroke we have done it many times making some big numbers, but you showed concern for cost and if that is a factor stay stock stroke save a little money and turn the boost up a little to compensate for the difference in cubes.

Got cha, makes sense. So my next question for you is, what rods and pistons would you go with? I'd like to keep the 9.5:1 comp
