Buy pre-assembled short block 408 lq4 or buy rotating assembly?
I have a 6.0 Lq4 with ls3 heads. I'd like to get a 408. What would be cheaper - buying a Texas Speed rotating assembly and paying a local shop to do my machine work using my current block, or buying a completed texas speed short block?
What machine work would need to be done to get the 408 rotating assembly in my current block?

I've built three SBCs and i was successful at mating the ls3 heads to a 6.0 block, installing the cam, etc. Im confident in my abilities, but the shop is another question. Any idea how much a shop would charge to fully prep a block for installing a stroker rotating assembly, including installing cam bearings?

Good choice, you are better off dealing with one vendor that will stand behind the complete engine. Most shops will not guarantee a job if you bring your own parts, even if they are from a reputable shop or brand.
If you were to have a problem with the engine the shop that assembled the engine would blame it on the parts that you supplied, and the parts supplier would blame the the shop that assembled it, saying they did not assemble it correctly. In the short term that method would cause you nothing but headaches and a lighter wallet.
