rattling or clicking noise (hard to describe)

I was driving back home the other day and i got on my car to pass another car. When I did that a noise started coming from my motor. the check engine light isnt on, belts are fine and brand new, plugs are good, coil packs are good, and the gaskets are good. Its very load when I crank it up then the noise dies down when i accelerate it gets louder. I know it does it at idle but its very hard to hear over my exhaust. Can any one please tell me what it could possible be im thinkin i need new valves. any help would be great thank you.

Possibly a bent pushrod. A video would help us!

Could be several different things, but sounds like its valve train related to me possibly. Would it be possible to get a video up?

Ok so found out what the problem is its a lifter on the front driver side of the motor. So now if that one went bad then the rest is gonna follow soon behind it so im just gonna replace the lifters. also thinking about getting a good cam valve springs push rods since i gotta take the intake off and the coolant lines then the knock sensor and the plate and maybe the heads to get to lifters.

How did you end up figuring it out? And yes, the heads must be removed on the LS1 to change lifters. Good luck.

Unplugged the coil packs then took driver side coil pack off then took valve cover off then turn the key to get the lifters moving all of them where fine none was loose or appeared to be bent rockers where fine valve springs fine but thanks now the nightmare starts.
